Blank Stare
This is what a live recording should sound like. These straight edge mosh warriors dish out twelve tracks of quality hardcore in just under sixteen minutes. Most of the stuff they play here is their newer material. Everything is incredibly fucking tight on this recording and all the levels are set perfectly. This is honestly some of the best live shit I've ever heard. If the Introduction doesn't make you want to mosh to death you officially hate hardcore.

Brown Sugar
Now this tape is really something. It opens up with a very interesting rendition of Jimi Hendrix's "Hey Joe" which is followed by the infamous Deportation EP. Side B contains the Superman Demo (which is only one song and definitely one of their best) and some live shit. Listen until your heart stops.

Guinea Kid/Neurons
These are the final recordings of both bands featured on this tape: A SPLIT TRIBUTE TO DEVO! Guinea Kid's side is by far the better side, with two originals and a cover of Devo's "Mongoloid." However, Neurons certainly does not disappoint and delivers some pretty EVIL shit on their side, with one original and covers of Devo's "Devo Corporate Anthem" and "Penetration In The Centerfold." The best part about this tape is the packaging. It comes wrapped in a screen printed patch, complete with two inserts: one is a small card with a photo of some fucking dude with band info on the back and the other is a folded piece of paper with lyrics on the back. This is seriously some sick & twisted shit.

Duress
I picked this up at Duress' 7" release show last year. The quality is pretty terrible, but it's a fucking radio session so you really shouldn't expect much. This was recorded in February of 2010 on Harsh Distractions radio. ENJOY DUDES.

Vile Intent
I saw these guys back in August, I believe, where I picked this gem of a tape up. I hadn't heard them before that and I was fucking blown away to say the least. Vile Intent plays powerviolence in the vein of Infest (as one can tell by the tape cover) and they do an absolutely killer job. The introduction to their song "Shepherd" makes me want to rip somebody's fucking throat out. Tracks are NOT split up, cry about it.

Born Bad/Duress Split
I had no fucking clue that this existed until today. I was fortunate enough to pick it up along with some other really sweet shit. Both sides are absolutely killer. Duress is dead and I guess Born Bad is soon to follow? Either way, enjoy.

Violent Change
Now this is some classic shit right here. This band played two shows and released this demo (with a terribly corny layout) and that was it. Hardcore skate punk inspired by JFA, Minor Threat, etc. Features members of Razor X Fade and Poor Choice, Birth Deformities, and not to mention the legendary Tom King. DIG IT SON!

The Apocolypse Is Near...
I've finally finished cutting out/folding the covers and inserts for the Narrow Mind tapes. They will be dubbed and available for purchase in the very near future, so get your pocketbooks ready. This hot little piece of plastic will set you back two bones. Once they are fully ready to be dispersed, they'll be available through the Frankenjew Records site. There will be one hundred made, each being delicately and lovingly hand numbered. One more absolutely thrilling announcement: I've decided to turn Narrow Mind into a real band made up of, believe it or not, real live people. It will consist of Mr. James Mehdi Farabi of Socially Retarded on guitar, Mr. Kristopher Aldo Di Benedetto of Parrhesia on drums, Mr. Max Norman Winkelstein of Poor Choice on bass guitar, and myself, Mr. August James Durso III, on vocals. We will be having a tape release show in mid to late October, so be fucking ready. Stay punk.

Black Sabbath
By far my favorite album by Black Sabbath. Listen to "Cornucopia" and "Under The Sun" and you'll know exactly why. 42012, dude.

Big L
RAP ON A HARDCORE BLOG?!? I don't really listen to much rap at all, but when I heard "98 Freestyle" by Big L for the first time, I was fucking dumbfounded. This guy really knew what the fuck he was doing and it definitely shows through his songs. A lot of his lyrics utilize some intense humor and focus on day-to-day life in his hometown of Harlem. Unfortunately, he only released one full-length album, Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous, before he was killed in 1999. At the time of his death, he was working on his second full length, The Big Picture, which ended up being released posthumously. Dig it.

Master rip straight from the Social Retards themselves. Fucking classic Chicago poweviolence split. No bullshit crumby sounding USB turntable rips over here, BRO. Recorded and mastered by Niko Zaglaras of Raw Nerve fame. Also, Mitch's dick is fucking huge. Bitches better recognize.

Crazy Spirit
Crazy Spirit, hailing from Brooklyn, is the shit. Their live shows are so much fucking fun and their style of hardcore is incredibly unique. I was fortunate enough to play their record release show at some shitty bar in New York and I picked one of them up. I finally decided to rip it for you assholes. Complain about the quality later.

Narrow Mind
Finally. Here it fucking is. After almost a year of writing, practicing, procrastinating, and pill/inhalant abuse, this demo has, at long last, come to life. Some blogs have detailed, lengthy reviews of the music they post whereas others have fancy fucking layouts and colorful pictures. Well, I decided to make a hardcore band for mine. So here you have it, a (roughly) ten minute demo of stupid ass music for fucking idiots, heavily inspired by The Repos, Infest, and Black Sabbath. All instruments/vocals done by A.J. Please do not enjoy this at all.

Fucking insane new tape from two evil geniuses. Extremely punishing, fuzzed out, low end nonsense with bouts of chaotic noise in between songs. You're a fucking fool if you pass this up.

Cülo
I've seen Cülo play so many shows since they started and it's never got old. Both A.J. and I toured with them over Spring Break 2010 w/ Positive Noise. Cülo plays a familiar hardcore rage that we all know, the "I Don't Care" sound. With Ramones influenced riffs and d-beat esque drumming, they can't go wrong. Their first 7", Nuke Abuse, just came out on Punks Before Profits, but they actually have a new one coming out soon on Deranged Records. If you come across any Cülo records, get them! Post by Max.

Ty Segall
Ty Segall, from San Francisco, plays reverb ridden surf rock that shakes the 60's. I constantly have riffs stuck in my head from the Reverse Shark Attack LP. The amount of fuzz and over modulation on these records is amazing. Ty plays in like 3 other bands and has been in a handful before this project. He has some other releases that you can download here.

Brilliant Colors
Brilliant Colors is an excellent punk trio from San Francisco. I sense a lot of influence from the 80's English girl band, Marine Girls. Their music can either be the center of a block party or the record you spin before you go to bed. If you come across any of their records, get them! They have 2 new singles coming out on April 29th, they should be good. Post by Max.
