Brown Sugar

FUCK YES. This is undoubtedly my favorite record of the year, tied only with the new SPITS LP that just came out. My band was fortunate enough to play with BROWN SUGAR in Indiana last night and for me it was like finally getting to scratch a three year itch. I've been wanting to see these guys for the longest time and it was everything I could've hoped for and more. Honestly one of the most fun live bands I've ever seen. After the release of two 7"s out of nowhere, BROWN SUGAR returns with a full out onslaught incarnated in twelve inches of wax. If yer a true punk you already know what to expect from these goons. I think my favorite song on this has to be "Brown Eyed Girl / Copper Helicopter" or their very interesting rendition of "Blow," which was originally on their notorious Deportation EP. Stop reading this and just fucking listen already.

Vile Nation

Hot damn. This 7" fucking kills me every time I listen to it. This is VILE NATION'S second and final 7" and I must say, what a way to go out. The echo on "No War, No Future" is so fucking perfect and abrasive, it penetrates my ear holes and runs laps in my brain for weeks on end. This record is drastically different than their No Exit EP. The first record seems to have a heavier emphasis on bands like D.R.I. with all the drum cuts and choppy riffs whereas this record is just straight up, cla$$ic 80s hardcore, influenced by bands like GANG GREEN and PUTRID FEVER. This record is red hot, dripping wet.
