Brutal Supremacy

Brand new compilation double 7" from Painkiller Records featuring what I like to call the "powerhouses of powerviolence" (I know it's clever, you don't need to tell me): IRON LUNG (3 tracks), MIND ERASER (4 tracks), HATRED SURGE (3 tracks), and SCAPEGOAT (7 tracks). The IRON LUNG side is extremely noisy, similar to their previous work, and at times very slow which eventually leads into the blasting chaos that they're known for. You should know what to expect from these guys by now. I would say that this isn't really their best stuff yet, but it's still pretty good. Next up is MIND ERASER. There's something about these recordings that makes them not so memorable. I think I just don't like the way that they were recorded. Don't get me wrong, I love MIND ERASER and always have, but it seems like they were going for a more lo-fi sound but ended just making these songs sound like crap. Oh well. HATRED SURGE kicks of the A side of the second 7". I don't understand why people like this band so much. It just sounds like shitty metal. Definitely my least favorite recordings on this compilation. But SCAPEGOAT.....oh SCAPEGOAT. These guys just can't seem to fail. They dish out seven filthy, powerful ragers that I could honestly listen to all fucking day and not get tired of. These recordings are extremely lo-fi, reminiscent of their recordings on their Mindrot demo, but just a bit better. They rerecorded three songs from their tour tape and four brand new ragers for this one. Flawless. Absolutely flawless.

  3. when i first heard the Hatred Surge tracks on this comp i had to check to see if it wasn't a different band. It's just straight chug and guts. Somehow, i still like it though. thanks for putting this up.
